Nigeria’s chief of army staff died in an air force plane crash, four months after being appointed to the position.
Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru, was killed along with 10 others including aides and crew when the aircraft they were traveling in crashed in the northern state of Kaduna, the Nigerian army said in a statement on Twitter on Saturday May 2021.
Attahiru was appointed chief of staff in January 2021, when Buhari replaced the heads of the nation’s armed forces.
