Okay, I just finished “Teach You a Lesson” and I’m still kind of buzzing from it. This show has no right being as fun as it is. It’s basically about a team of inspectors who show up to schools and deal with all the chaos that happens when nobody respects anyone anymore. And somehow it works. It’s funny, it’s got actual stakes, and the action sequences are genuinely cool. Not what I expected from a show with this premise, but I’m not complaining.

Season 1

So the first episode drops us right into the mess. Inspector Na Hwa-jin walks into a school that’s basically falling apart. Teachers are getting disrespected, students are out of control, and it’s clear the administration has just given up. Hwa-jin doesn’t have time for normal bureaucracy. He’s got a different approach.

What makes this work is that the show doesn’t pretend to have all the answers. It’s not like “here’s the one thing that fixes everything.” Instead, it’s about using unconventional methods to actually get through to people. Sometimes that means being tough. Sometimes it means understanding why kids are acting out in the first place. The balance between action movie vibes and actual human drama is what keeps you watching.

Kim Moo-yul carries the whole thing as Hwa-jin. He’s got this deadpan thing going where he can be completely serious about taking down corruption but also funny without trying. Like, he’s not cracking jokes. The comedy comes from his attitude and how he handles situations. It works.

Then there’s Bong Geun-dae, played by Lee Sung-min, who seems like the most unassuming person ever but is actually crucial to the team. The dynamic between these two is the heart of the season. Geun-dae is more human and emotional while Hwa-jin is just a force of nature, and they need each other.

Episode three gets messy when a teen influencer starts making false accusations about teachers. This is where the show could have gone corny or preachy, but it doesn’t. Instead, it shows the real damage misinformation can do while also making sure the team doesn’t just dismiss her concerns outright. It’s actually thoughtful, which surprised me.

The whole cast is solid. Jin Ki-joo, Pyo Ji-hoon, and Song Young-gyu all bring something different to the team, and their scenes together feel natural. There’s chemistry there that doesn’t feel forced.

If I had to pick what didn’t always land, it’s that some episodes feel like they’re trying to squeeze in too many plot threads. You can tell there’s more story they want to tell, and occasionally it feels a bit rushed. But honestly, it’s a minor thing because the pacing is mostly tight.

The action scenes are actually great. This isn’t like a typical school drama where nobody throws a punch. These inspectors know how to fight, and the show doesn’t shy away from that. It gives the whole thing an edge that keeps it from feeling like every other education-focused K-drama.

Ten episodes feels like the right amount for what they’re doing. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, and it leaves you wanting more in a good way. Since it’s confirmed for season two, I’m genuinely curious where they take this next. Are they staying at the same school? Going somewhere new? How much can they escalate without losing what makes the show work?

If you like action and comedy mixed together, if you appreciate a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still cares about its characters, this is worth your time. It’s the kind of show that could have been a total mess but somehow just… isn’t.

Have you watched it yet, or are you thinking about starting it?
